Important Information for College WORK STUDY participants
ANNOUNCEMENT
TO: UH Departments
FROM: University Career Services
RE: Hiring Procedures: College Work-Study, fall 2007
DATE: June 5, 2007
Hiring procedures for the employment of Work-Study students will be addressed in each of three workshops to be conducted during the month of June, July, and August. If you are planning to hire Work-Study students for fall 2007, please send a representative from your department to one of the workshops listed below. The workshops will address how to navigate the on-line Work-Study system, including:
1) Posting jobs for students to search and view
2) Accessing student applications
3) Scheduling interviews with the candidates of your choice
Attendance is not mandatory. If you attended a Work-Study workshop last year, it is not necessary to attend this year unless you simply wish to review procedures. For those new to the process, you will probably increase your chances of hiring the student(s) of your choice if you do attend. Note: the procedure for re-hiring has changed. If you plan to re-hire a CWS student whom you employed during spring semester, 2007, you will have to re-post the position.
Workshops will be held at University Career Services (UCS), Student Service Center 1 (Bldg. #524), Office #106. Please bring your Employee ID number with you to the session, as you will need it to access the on-line system. Your Employee ID number appears on your Earnings Statement. Each workshop will be about one hour in length. Seating is limited. The workshop dates are:
Thursday, July 19, 2:30 – 4:00
Tuesday, July 31, 2:30 – 4:00
Wednesday, August 8, 10:00 – 11:30
Note that you must obtain approval from your office manager or divisional business administrator to hire a Work-Study prior to posting a position with UCS. Please contact Christine Tone Winn (ctonewinn@uh.edu; 713/743-5123) if you have questions or would like additional information. Thank you.
