  • Before applying for College Work-Study jobs, you must first have applied for and received a College Work-Study award through the Scholarships and Financial Aid office.

  • Once you have received your award letter, you may complete the Work-Study job application at any time at: www.career.uh.edu.

  • Work-Study jobs will be posted beginning on August 1, 2007 at the above website. Additional jobs will be posted after that date, so it is recommended that you keep checking the site after August 1.

  • You must be registered for Fall, 2007 classes before you can log in and conduct a job search.

  • To familiarize yourself with procedures for getting hired in a Work-Study job, attendance at a Work-Study Workshop is required. Dates and times of the workshop are posted on the Events Calendar. If you are unable to attend a workshop, you may review the PowerPoint slides .

  • If you are returning to a Work-Study job you held in Spring, 2007, you will still have to apply on-line per the instructions provided in the workshop.

  • Beginning on July 5, 2007, departments may begin posting their Fall, 2007 Work-Study jobs to the UCS website: www.career.uh.edu. Posted jobs will be available for students to view beginning August 1, 2007.

  • Faculty/staff workshops addressing the job posting and hiring process have been scheduled during the month of June. Attendance is strongly recommended for those departments new to the Work-Study process. Click here for workshop details.

  • Information on Work-Study wages and limitations on work hours, along with other useful information about employing Work-Study students may be found at: www.uh.edu/enroll/sfa/workstudy/main.htm

  • When you are ready to post your position(s), log on to the UCS website. From the main page, click on "College Work-Study." Your User Name and Password are both the same: your last name followed by the last three digits of your Employee ID number. This number may be found on your Earnings Statement. Once you have logged in, click on "College Work-Study" and follow the prompts.

  • To hire students under the College Work-Study program, you will first need to contract with the UH Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Contact the SFA office at 713-743-9051 for questions.
  • Once your Work-Study contract has been approved, the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid will post your CWS openings for you.
  • SFA will provide you with your username and password to view student applications for your positions.
