Dr. Small has over 25 years of experience in student affairs administration. His academic credentials include Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Tennessee and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. He has authored numerous articles in professional journals, and has delivered over 300 keynote and commencement addresses. He has served as a consultant to corporations on a wide range of organizational, career, and professional development topics. Dr. Small has been quoted in numerous publications, including U.S. News and World Report, USA Today, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Business Week. He is a frequent guest on TV and radio news/talk programs. Susan is the Career Counselor for the C.T. Bauer College of Business, as well as undecided majors. Contact Susan to schedule an appointment to discuss your choice of major, take a vocational assessment, or for assistance with your job search. Susan has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. She is also a Certified Global Career Development Facilitator. Susan has experience in consulting, public accounting, recruiting, vocational rehabilitation and career counseling. Susan oversees the Career Counseling department at University Career Services.

Karen counsels students in the Colleges of Engineering, Technology and Architecture, and she serves as the Liaison to the ISSS Office. Karen also helps UH students find jobs overseas and is available to conduct seminars and presentations to student groups and organizations. Karen has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and experience in design, manufacturing, management, human resources and recruiting, and career counseling.

Nancy counsels students from the Colleges of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, Education, and Social Work. She has a B.A. in Education and a M.Ed. in Counseling from Clemson University, and an M.B.A. from LeTourneau University. Nancy can help you identify employers that are recruiting for your major, and then teach you how to market yourself to those employers. She can also explain how to get certified to teach, answer questions about our credential file system, and help graduate students with c.v critiques, and finding academic/non-academic jobs.

Rachel provides career counseling and transition services to all UH Alumni. If you are unsure of which career path to begin and how to get started, a recent graduate, affected by downsizing, or considering a career change contact Rachel. She can assist you with all aspects of career/life planning and decision-making, from exploring or re-assessing a career path to organizing a professional job search. She also counsels individuals interested in healthcare careers and can help you explore your career options. Rachel has a Master's degree in Counseling and experience in healthcare, information technology, human resources, and counseling. Rachel is a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Marilyn works with UH students and alumni interested in going to law school as well as current UH students of all majors seeking internship opportunities. She can help you explore if a law career is right for you, and help guide you through the process of law school application through resume review assistance and personal statement critique. She also assists with internship search strategies, as she is the UCS point-of-contact for internships. She has a Master’s degree in Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. Marilyn has experience in recruiting, human resources, higher education administration, mental health and career counseling

Lisa provides career counseling to students in the Colleges of Natural Sciences & Mathematics, Pharmacy, Optometry & Hotel and Restaurant Management. Lisa can assist you in developing a resume, choosing the major that is right for you, determining what career options are available with your major, and organizing a professional job search. She can also assist students who are receiving pre-professional training for healthcare careers. Lisa can help you prepare for your professional school interview and provide interview coaching. Lisa has a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Houston. She has experience in rehabilitation counseling, job development and placement and career counseling.

Campus Recruitment is the coordination of corporate visits for the purpose of providing interview opportunities between employers from a wide variety of industries and the diverse UH student and alumni population. Employers who would like to establish an interview date, have questions about the recruitment process, or would like to learn more about how to establish a presence on campus should contact Theresa or Johanna. As Employer Relations Coordinator, Jessica serves as the primary point of contact for employers. She helps guide employers through the recruiting process. Jessica has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Houston and has experience in sales and marketing, as well as career counseling.
