Thank you for your consideration in being a volunteer advisor for the University Career Advisory Network (UCAN) at the University of Houston. Students/alumni need as much information as possible to make
good career decisions, and the most inspiring advice often comes from the
personal experiences of others. Your willingness to share your knowledge and experience may prove to be extremely valuable to UH students and alumni as they seek to
make informed career decisions and/or launch effective job search campaigns. As a volunteer advisor, you will specify your areas of expertise, set the frequency and level of involvement with UH students and alumni, and choose the types of students/alumni that you wish to advise. Your involvement can range from
an exchange of e-mail messages to
serving as a speaker for a student organization.
Network members help students/alumni explore career options and give insight into some of the realities of the workplace. Mentors are not expected to offer internships or jobs, just information and advice.
Please complete profile section I, II, and III. You will be asked to provide e-mail address to facilitate the initial contact. Your identity will remain anonymous to student and alumni users unless/until you choose otherwise. Users will be able to search the UCAN database by job titles, experience levels, industry types, education criteria, and geographic data.
